Among the best in the UK, the School has exceptional examination results. In 2016 BGS had outstanding A Level results with 55% of all exams awarded A*/A grades - compared with 25.8% nationally. As the most successful independent school in West Yorkshire at A and AS Levels with the highest University admission points, it also had a record breaking 46% of all GCSEs awarded A*, with 71% of all exams taken awarded A* or A grades, well over three times higher than the national average. With such strong results entry into Russell Group universities is high.

Outside the classroom sport plays a fundamental part of a broad, well-rounded education for boys and girls, building character, camaraderie and school spirit. With a strong tradition of success at the highest levels in many sports, the school’s rugby, netball and cricket teams have competed all over the world..

Arts subjects may be under threat nationally, but they are thriving at BGS. The school embraces and supports the arts through music, drama and theatre studies.

Former pupils of the school include Olympic heroes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, actress Georgie Henley, England rugby legend Charlie Hodgson and artist David Hockney.
