Pre course support
Your Journey with White Rose Alliance

As soon as an applicant accepts a conditional offer from the White Rose Alliance (WRA), their journey begins—they become part of our community from day one.
We are committed to making all trainees feel welcome and supported, ensuring they have a clear understanding of what is required throughout their training.
Staying Connected Before Your Course Begins
For those applying early in the recruitment cycle, there may be a significant gap before the course starts. To maintain engagement and support, we keep in regular contact with our next cohort through a series of newsletters providing:
✅ Advice and guidance
✅ Key information and updates
✅ Recommended preparation tasks
Pre-Course Events at King James’s School
Applicants who have accepted a place with WRA are invited to attend two key pre-course events:
Pre-Induction Morning (May)
WRA Induction Part 1 (July)
These events provide essential course information, offer the chance to meet staff, former, and current trainees, and help new trainees build connections before the September start. Many past trainees have found this experience invaluable in easing pre-course nerves and setting them up for success.
The WRA Buddy Programme

To further support our trainees, we run a Buddy Programme, pairing incoming trainees with those from the current cohort.
This provides:
A friendly, informal contact to answer questions about the course, subject, or university
Reassurance and peer-to-peer support
A smoother transition into the training programme
Pre-Course Visits and Orientation
Our university partners arrange pre-course visits, during which qualification certificate and ID checks are completed. Additionally, in July, trainees are invited to an orientation day at their first placement school to familiarize themselves with the environment before the course officially begins.
Throughout the pre-course period, WRA staff are always available to provide support and respond to any questions or concerns. We are here to ensure that you feel fully prepared, confident, and excited to begin your journey in teacher training.
