King James's School
King James’s School is a highly successful co-educational comprehensive school with 1,700 pupils aged 11–18 years.
The most recent inspection judged King James’s to be a good school with many outstanding features. Post-16 provision at King James’s is extensive with more than 30 Advanced courses on offer, in addition to a one-year Bridging Course and a Foundation Learners’ Programme.
King James’s School is very experienced in training teachers, having been a Training School since 2001, typically providing placements for up to 30 trainees each year from several different university providers.
The school has an enviable tradition, identity and ethos (the school celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2016) which is combined with the best in modern curriculum design and innovative teaching and learning. Learning is enhanced by a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
